THE WILD TIMES OF YOUTH - Part 4

Renzo was shopping for clothes at a store in Barra Shopping (under the Company brand, which was very successful in the 1980s) when he was called by a group of friends: “Renzo, come fast, they're hitting one of ours!”

The case is that a group of about 10 friends had gone to the movies. The boys had a strategy to get in: without money, one of them paid the ticket and, once inside, opened the emergency door so that the others could also watch the movie. As they left the session, they were caught by mall security. Most managed to escape, but one of them was dragged into a private room, where he was beaten by a group of security guards. "The guys were big, the kid didn't have a chance to defend himself..." Warned, Renzo ran there, accompanied by his brother Ralph and the other boys. When they arrived at the scene, Renzo came forward and asked them to release his friend. The head of security said that no one would enter there. Renzo hit him with a punch to the face, the guy fell. Then he invaded the room: the boy was inside, surrounded by three security guards who slapped him in the face, punched and kicked... Revolted by the cowardice, Renzo went after the men, released his friend and took him outside. The head of security used the radio to activate his team. Then, in the parking area in front of the cinemas, a real pitched battle took place: Renzo and his 10 friends faced about 20 security guards with clubs.

According to witnesses, the collective brawl lasted more than 20 minutes, with the groups clashing fiercely. The confrontation alternated with pauses for breathing and for the regrouping of rival teams. Even in the midst of the confusion, Renzo always kept an eye on his partners, making sure they weren't beaten up by security groups and calling for a fair fight: "IT'S MAN AGAINST MAN, FUCKING!" Mall firefighters also rushed to the scene – every now and then they got into the riot and dragged the wounded outside, to be rescued as they fell, injured (Renzo dislocated the arms of at least two guys that afternoon, fixating on those who had beaten his friend). In the end, when the security guards had already been disarmed of their clubs and only half of them were left standing, Renzo called the fight to an end. The bouncers agreed. The boys piled into an old pickup truck and drove home.

Later, the reverberations of the incident caused the dismissal of the security guards who had beaten the boy in the room attached to the cinemas.
