Providing a unique experience, the program goes beyond technique, with details, concepts and fundamentals.
Born on Aug. 4, 1985, Christian Xaropinho has been practicing BJJ for around 25 years. A teacher in Chicago, Illinois, he has stood out in several IBJJF competitions and achieved the title of blue-belt world champion. In MMA, Xaropinho is undefeated with five wins.
Uflacker explains that the collar-and-sleeve guard is his favorite because it leaves one’s opponent uncomfortable and in peril the whole time. He’ll be showing some possible finishes and sweeps.
Xaropinho’s first option, when his opponent is on his knees, is the triangle, given that the distance control and the foot on the left shoulder make an attack attractive -- as long as it’s executed with the necessary details.
Your opponent’s common defense to the attack from the previous lesson is to raise their right leg, on the side of the arm that’s controlled, which makes the triangle impossible. But there’s always a counterattack in BJJ, and here Uflacker chooses to use the hook on the outside to get support and manage to get up sweeping the leg, in a very effective sweep.
