Providing a unique experience, the program goes beyond technique, with details, concepts and fundamentals.
Nineteen ninety-nine ADCC champion Jean Jacques Machado is regarded as one of the world's most technical BJJ teachers. Trained by Carlos Gracie Jr. and raised on the mats alongside Renzo, Jean has lived in California since the early 90s, and leads a successful gym in Tarzana.
Jean Jacques says that, being in New York, a visit to Renzo's gym is mandatory. The people that come out of there, he says, have a positive impact on the world. He tells of how his generation was so concerned with the training environment as well as the techniques themselves. He prepares the students for a new perspective on things they've already seen.
In this lesson, Jean Jacques shows a simple positioning detail that makes one of the most effective mount escapes harder to pull off. He explains that when he began learning BJJ, the mount was the final goal and should mark the end of the fight. And that your mindset should be to get there and only leave with a submission.
Usually, the upa removes you from the mount upon the second hand entering the collar to execute the choke. Here, Jean Jacques teaches how to use weight distribution to avoid this and achieve the finish. Plus an elegant tip for distracting your opponent.
